In response to the Alberta Government’s new health sanctions, a number of local facilities and programs have closed or being canceled.
Town of Whitecourt:
-The Town of Whitecourt has closed indoor recreational facilities. That includes the Allan and Jean Millar Centre and the Scott Safety Centre until further notice.
-The Forest Interpretive Centre is closed to the public.
-The Whitecourt and District Public Library is closed to the public.
-The Whitecourt RCMP Detachment has reduced its office hours and will be open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Detachment will not be performing Criminal Record Checks or fingerprinting for volunteering or pardons with the exception of those volunteering in health facilities (a letter from the health authority must accompany this request).
The Town of Whitecourt is advising residents that the Town has an emergency continuity plan in place to ensure essential services continue uninterrupted.
Town of Edson:
-The Town of Edson has closed or canceled a number of facilities and programs, effective immediately until further notice.
-Repsol Place is closed to the public and the ice will be removed for the season.
-The Edson Town Office is closed to the public.
-The Edson Public Library is closed.
-The Emergency Services Building/Fire Hall is closed to the public.
– The Public Works Building is also closed to the public. The Pound will remain operational with special measures put in place for public safety.
-ParentLink is closed, and town programming such as swimming lessons and fitness classes, etc. are all canceled. Canceled programs will be refunded.
-The tax clinic is also on hold with plans to finish the remainder of the current files.
The Landfill/Lagoon will remain open and the Airport will remain open with limited access for the general public.
-Effective immediately and until further notice, Yellowhead County is closing the Wildwood Office as well as all other County Public Facilities.
-All programming has ceased for at least two weeks at which point the County says they will re-evaluate.
-All non-urgent meetings for County staff will be also be canceled, with the scheduled County Council meeting and the Robb Area Structure Plan Public Hearing on March 24th being postponed until a later date.
-All regular, essential services such as road maintenance, utilities, and priority emergency-responder services will continue to operate as usual.
Town of Fox Creek/Greenview:
– The Town of Fox Creek issued a statement saying the Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex and the Community Hall are now both closed until further notice.
-The MD of Greenview would like to notify residents and visitors that the Greenview Regional Multiplex, the Grande Cache Tourism and Interpretive Centre, and the Grande Cache Recreation Centre are closed effective immediately. All listed facilities will remain closed until further notice.
All monthly member payments are being suspended as of today, March 16, 2020. Any paid-in-full memberships will be put on pause until further notice, and expiry dates will be extended accordingly.
Lac Ste. Anne County:
Lac Ste. Anne County, as part of its Covid-19 procedures, has announced that the Community Services department has canceled or postponed programs and services.
-Onoway Playschool is canceled until further notice.
-All further ParentLink and Early Childhood Development programs are canceled.
-The Highway 43 Come Play with Me Early Childhood Coalition Parenting Session on March 18th is canceled.
-Onoway Children’s Health Fair with AHS on March 20th is canceled, and the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program has been postponed.
-Lac Ste. Anne County will be ceasing all non-critical meetings, events, and social engagements until further notice, and ask residents to avoid attending the County Administration Building.
Town of Barrhead:
The Town of Barrhead Recreational Facilities are closed to all public effective immediately. The registration for swimming lessons and health and wellness programs are canceled and will be determined to open at a later date.
