The Town of Mayerthorpe has given an update regarding their response to COVID-19.

Effective today, March 26th, all Town playgrounds in Mayerthorpe will be closed to the public to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus.

Elmer Elson Elementary School has closed its playground as well.

All Town facilities have been or will soon be closed to the public, including the Town Office, while staff will still be available to take phone calls and emails.

Mayerthorpe Town Council is assessing measures to reduce the financial burden on residents and businesses.

At Monday’s Council meeting, a motion was passed to waive utility bill penalties for the month of March and additional measures are also being considered.

Mayerthorpe’s Mayor, Janet Jabush, provided the updates in a press release to residents on Wednesday.
