Amid all of the data coming out about COVID-19, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has released updated influenza data, and numbers show that 36 Albertans have died of the flu this season.
15 of those flu deaths have been in the Edmonton Zone, while 9 were in the Calgary Zone, six in the South Zone, and four in the Central Zone. The North Zone has recorded two deaths from the flu.
The 36 flu deaths are an increase over the 2018-2019 season total of 30.
AHS said 1.4 million doses of the flu vaccine were given out this season.
There have been 8,388 lab-confirmed cases of the flu in Alberta, with just over 1,400 hospitalizations.
