The Alberta government, in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, has closed all provincial parks and provincial recreation areas and suspended automobile access temporarily at access points.

The suspension applies to vehicle access to parking lots and staging areas. Albertans who travel to provincial parks and recreation sites will have to do so by non-motorized means only.

Albertans who choose to access the province’s provincial parks and recreation areas should follow physical distancing advice and not gather in large groups.

Alberta Parks facilities, including toilets and picnic and warm-up shelters, have been closed for more than a week.

Enforcement officers will be doing routine checks in provincial parks and on public land to support education and awareness on the temporary closures. Officers can issue fines for non-compliance if required.
