A 79-year-old man is dead following a crash near Barrhead Monday.
Around 7 am, Barrhead RCMP responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 33 and Highway 18, north of Barrhead.
The investigation has revealed that a car was driving south across the intersection when a collision occurred with a truck travelling eastbound on Highway 18.
The lone male driver of the car, aged 79, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The adult male driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and did not require transport to hospital.
Police continue to investigate the crash but say no charges are anticipated.
The name of the deceased man will not be released.
