Whitecourt residents who are still hoping to get rid of unwanted household items this year will be able to do so for free in August.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s Spring Cleanup campaign was postponed by the Town, leaving many residents disappointed.

In an effort to still offer cleanup services, Town Council has decided to waive disposal fees at the Whitecourt Regional Landfill from Tuesday, August 25th to Saturday, August 29th to allow residents to bring in items.

Mayor Maryann Chichak says this will give people the chance to collect items over the summer and have a longer time to dispose of them.

Due to health restrictions still in place and the close proximity to others it would present, the Take It or Leave It campaign has officially been cancelled this year. Council noted they would like to have it back with the original Spring Cleanup campaign in 2021.
