Man arrested in Fox Creek after multiple break and enters

RCMP in Fox Creek have arrested a man after a string of break and enters and thefts occurred this month.

Police say on August 3rd, a Polaris side by side was stolen from a residence in Fox Creek, and over the following days, a number of break-ins and thefts were committed using the side by side.

On August 16th, after tips from the public, officers patrolled the area on quads and located the side by side and suspect on an abandoned lease site near Fox Creek.

Stolen items located included a Dodge Ram Truck, a flatbed trailer, stolen identification cards, and numerous other items.

The suspect also had four cans of bear spray, 7.71 grams of methamphetamine, and 2.76 grams of heroin.

37-year-old Matthew Duffy was arrested at the scene and is facing a list of 13 charges, including:
• Possession stolen property X 5
• Proceeds of Crime
• Possession for the purpose of Trafficking (Heroin)
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking (Methamphetamine)
• Fail to comply with probation
• Fail to comply with release order
• Flight from peace officer
• Obstruction
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Duffy remains in custody for a court date in Grande Prairie on August 24th.
