17-year-old facing drug trafficking charges in Edson

Police in Edson have charged a 17-year-old for drug trafficking.

Edson RCMP, along with the assistance of the Edson General Investigation Section (GIS), launched an investigation this summer after receiving numerous complaints of the sale of drugs at the Edson Skate Park in early May.

The investigation led to police obtaining a search warrant of a residence located in the Yellowhead Apartments near the skate park.

During the search, numerous drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, and MDMA; drug paraphernalia; items related to drug trafficking; stolen property, and a sum of cash were seized.

On August 12, 2020, a 17-year-old male from Edson was charged with:
• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – MDMA
• Possession of Methamphetamine
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x4)

The youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to attend Edson Provincial Court on November 17, 2020.
