Three separate fires that occurred within the Town of Edson early Sunday morning have been deemed arson by the Edson Fire Chief.

Edson RCMP along with the Office of the Fire Investigator are continuing to investigate the cause of the fires, and are asking anyone that may have been in the area of the fires or has surveillance or dash camera footage to contact the police.

In the early morning hours of October 4th, emergency personnel including RCMP, EMS, and both the Edson Fire Department and the Yellowhead County Fire Department responded to the three suspicious incidents.

A mobile home at the Cedars Mobile Home Park was fully engulfed and ultimately completely destroyed by fire. A neighbouring home sustained extensive damage in the related fire. There were also two separate vehicle fires that resulted in both vehicles being lost.

Estimates of the damage are being tallied and no one was injured in these matters.

Police say they believe that these recent fires are not related to the previous arson fires that occurred in Edson in late 2019 and early 2020.

Anyone with information on these incidents should contact Edson RCMP at 780-723-8822 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
