Pedestrian fatally hit on Highway 16A

Parkland RCMP are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed this morning on Highway 16A.

Police and EMS responded at 4 am to a call of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Highway 16A, located 1 kilometre east of Boundary Road between Stony Plain and Spruce Grove.

RCMP say a pick-up truck heading eastbound on Highway 16A collided with a male who crossed the path of the pick-up truck in the far right lane.

The 35-year-old male of no fixed address was pronounced deceased on scene.

The 29-year-old male driver of the pick-up truck and 47-year-old passenger, both of Spruce Grove, were not injured.

Traffic in the area was affected for multiple hours as the RCMP Collision Analyst attended and examined the collision scene.

Parkland RCMP continues to investigate and the name of the deceased will not be released.
