The Town of Mayerthorpe is calling the Town Hall meeting they held this week a success.
A Community Town Hall was held at the Legion on Monday night to give residents the opportunity to address Council with questions or concerns.
Mayor Janet Jabush says about a dozen people from in Town and outside of Town were in attendance at the meeting, which is more than she expected.
Mayor Jabush says participants were happy with the meeting format and Council’s engagement. The Mayor says they discussed “loose plans” for the coming years, and budgeting challenges that everyone is facing because of the economy and because of “recent changes the provincial government has made over the last while.”
Mayor Jabush says most of the questions that residents asked were expected. Questions ranged from asking about activities going on south of Mayerthorpe to asking about the quality of water in town.
She went on to say that the town is interested in holding more Town Halls at least once a year, and Council will do a citizen satisfaction survey prior to starting their strategic planning each year in order to receive feedback from residents.
