A Spruce Grove man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault and sexual exploitation incident that occurred on September 17, 2020.

It is alleged that the accused followed and attempted to engage two young males, ages 11 and 12, while at the Tri-Leisure Centre swimming pool in Spruce Grove. The accused then allegedly touched one of the young males inappropriately.

Police say staff at the Tri-Leisure Centre did not witness the actual event, but suspected inappropriate behaviour, and immediately intervened and prevented further abuse.

As a result of the investigation into the incident, 58-year-old Leonard Frostad has been charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault.

Following a Judicial Hearing, Frostad was released from custody with numerous conditions, including not to have any contact or communication with a child under 16-years-old and not to attend any public areas where youth could be present.

Frostad is set to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on November 25th.

Parkland RCMP are seeking information on any other potential victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Parkland RCMP Detachment at 825-220-7267, your local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
